Es lo que se conoce en inglà ©s como change of venue.  ¿Quà © puede pasar si un migrante no se presenta a su cita en una corte migratoria? Los migrantes que han recibido citacià ³n para presentarse en una fecha y hora determinada en una Corte de Inmigracià ³n durante su proceso de deportacià ³n deben cumplir con esta obligacià ³n. En caso de no hacerlo, lo mà ¡s probable es que se dicte una orden de deportacià ³n in absentia. En estos casos, si el migrante es posteriormente detenido serà ¡ deportado inmediatamente sin tener derecho a presentarse ante un juez. La razà ³n es que la Corte puede solicitar mà ¡s evidencias, y se tendrà ­an que enviar dentro de plazo. Notificacià ³n al abogado del gobierno Enviar por correo certificado una copia de la carta de change of venue y de la planilla de cambio de direccià ³n a la oficina del abogado que representa a los intereses del gobierno en el caso. Why Are Middle Age White People Dying at Greater Rates Than Others

In September 2015 The National Academy of Sciences published the results of a startling study that show that middle age white Americans are dying at rates far greater than any other group in the nation. Even more shocking are the predominant causes: drug and alcohol overdose, liver disease related to alcohol consumption, and suicide. The research, conducted by Princeton professors Anne Case and Angus Deaton, is based on mortality rates recorded from 1999 to 2013. Overall in the U.S., as in most Western nations, mortality rates have been on the decline in recent decades. However when analyzed by age and race, Drs. Case and Deaton found that, unlike the rest of the population, the mortality rate for middle age white people--those 45 to 54 years old--has skyrocketed over the last 15 years, though it too had previously been on the decline. The increasing death rate among this group is so large that, as the authors point out, it is on par with deaths attributed to the AIDS epidemic. If the death rate had continued to decline as it had been through 1998, half a million lives would have been spared. Most of these deaths are attributed to sharp increases in drug and alcohol-related deaths, and suicide, with the largest increase attributed to overdoses, which climbed from almost nothing in 1999 to a rate of 30 per 100,000 in 2013. For comparison, the rate of drug and alcohol overdose per 100,000 people is just 3.7 among Blacks, and 4.3 among Hispanics. The researchers also observed that those with less education experienced higher mortality rates than those with more. Meanwhile, deaths from lung cancer declined, and those related to diabetes increased only slightly, so it is clear what is driving this troubling trend. So, why is this happening? The authors point out that this group also reported worsening physical and mental health during the timeframe studied, and reported a decreased ability to work, increasing experience of pain, and deteriorating liver function. They suggest that the growing availability of opioid pain medication, like oxycodone, during this time period could have spurred addiction among this population, which would have subsequently been satisfied with heroin after stricter controls on prescription opioids were introduced. Drs. Case and Eaton also note that the Great Recession, which saw lots of jobs and homes lost, and which significantly lowered the wealth of many Americans, could be a contributing factor to worsened physical and mental health, as illnesses could go untreated for lack of income or health insurance. But the effects of the Great Recession were experienced by all Americans, not just those who are middle-aged, and in fact, economically speaking, were experienced the worse by Blacks and Latinos. Insights from sociological research and theory suggest that there may be other social factors at play in this crisis. Loneliness is likely one of them. In a 2013 article for  The Atlantic, University of Virginia sociologist W. Bradford Wilcox pointed to the rising disconnect between middle-aged American men and social institutions like family and religion, and increasing rates of un- and under-employment as reasons for a sharp increase in suicide among this population. Wilcox emphasized that when one becomes disconnected from what typically holds people together in a society and gives them a positive sense of self and purpose, one is more likely to commit suicide. And, its men without college degrees who are most disconnected from these institutions, and who have the highest rate of suicide. The theory behind Wilcoxs argument comes from Émile Durkheim, one of the founders of sociology. In  Suicide, one of his most widely read and taught works, Durkheim observed that suicide can be linked to periods of rapid or vast change in society -- when people might feel as if their values no longer match that of society, or that their identity is no longer respected or valued. Durkheim referred to this phenomenon -- the breakdown of connections between an individual and society -- as anomie. Taking this into consideration, another possible social cause of the increase in mortality among white middle age Americans could be the changing racial makeup and politics of the U.S. Today, the U.S. is far less white, demographically speaking, than it was when middle age Americans were born. And since that time, and over the last decade especially, public and political attention to the problems of systemic racism, and to the related problems of white supremacy and white privilege, have greatly changed the racial politics of the nation. While racism remains a serious problem, its hold on the social order is increasingly challenged.  So from a sociological standpoint, its possible these changes have presented identity crises, and a related experience of anomie, to middle age white Americans who came of age during the reign of white privilege. This is just a theory, and its likely a pretty uncomfortable one to consider, but it is based in sound sociology

Tuition on the Rise: A Cause of Turmoil Today colleges are growing more and more necessary for attaining a solid path towards a successful career, yet the rapidly increasing cost of tuition is driving students away from their dream of attending college, due to the preposterous amount of money that is now being demanded by colleges across the nation and world as a whole. It is sad to see students being turned away from a successful future due to the money-hungry nature of the universities that dot the globe. More and more impossible it is becoming to have a â€Å"rags-to-riches† scenario that used to highlight the American Dream, as if a student doesn’t have the riches to afford a higher education and the tuition that is drug upon its†¦show more content†¦It was found out that the removal of in-state tuition resulted in substantial decreases in total enrollment, resulting in less students able to fulfill their dream of being able to go to college in order to pur sue a successful career of their choosing. In effect, this greatly limits students’ choices in their future goals and education. Despite the vast amounts of negatives associated with the advent of the rapidly increasing tuition situation, there is at least one positive impact. â€Å"Using a regression discontinuity design on data from Bocconi University in Italy, we show that a 1,000 euro increase in continuation tuition reduces the probability of late graduation by 5.2% when the benchmark probability is 80%† (Garibaldi). As shown in the study, when tuition is raised in large amounts, the probability of students graduating late also decreases. This happens because students are afraid to stay in college even longer as the massive amounts of tuition would make them collapse under its weight, so the students decide not to change majors in order to escape the costs associated with extending their years in college. The decrease in delayed graduates is very good for the global economy, as new graduates will be out in the real world faster, making them capable of filling jobs to empower our economy. The illusion of liquidity would have been gone and the fraud would have stopped far earlier. Deloitte was not able to uncover the Account 999, which was the key to detecting the fraud. The account was used as a trash bin for all the faked revenues, assets and profits that Parmalat had obtained over the years. Deloitte should have used more professional skepticism and dug deeper to uncover the fraud. However, all this is not important if Deloitte was colluding with the management of Parmalat to help the fraud continue. In that case, the Deloitte company should have kept a closer eye on the Italian section of the company. There should have been an internal investigation right away when some of the other Deloitte global offices sensed a risk of fraud in the Parmalat affair. Auditors must be independent from the company that they are auditing. If there is collusion, then fraud can easily occur. Independence was clearly missing in this case. By placing too much faith in the integrity of the managers and the competence of its auditors, the company became susceptible to fraud. The auditors should have had proper procedures in place to detect at least some of the 200 companies that were created by Parmalat to create an illusion of liquidity. The Outsiders The Outsiders Introduction In this book analysis, about the book "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton I will discuss character and plot development, as well as the setting, the author's style and my opinions about the book. In this part of the analysis I will give some information about the subjects of the book, and about the author. The author wrote the story when she was just 16 years old, in the 1950s. The book was successful, and it was sold, and still being sold, in many copies as a young adults novel. There was a movie made about it, and today there are still many schools that use this book in junior high and high schools for English classes. There were plays made about the book too. The Outsiders is about a gang. They live in a city in Oklahoma. Ponyboy Curtis, a 14 year old greaser, tells the story. Other characters include Sodapop and Darry, Ponyboy's brothers, Johnny, Dallas, and Two-Bit, that were also gang members and Ponyboy's friends. This story deals with two forms of social classes: the socs, the rich kids, and the greasers, the poor kids. The socs go around looking for trouble and greasers to beat up, and then the greasers are blamed for it, because they are poor and cannot affect the authorities. I hope you would enjoy and learn something about the book from reading this analysis. Plot Development The plot development in the book, "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, was easy to follow. In this part of the book analysis I will give some more details about the plot development. There were no hooks or hurdles in the beginning of the book, the first sentence starts right away with the plot-without any forewords. This is the beginning of the first sentence: "When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house..." (page 9). As you can see, it goes straight to the point without any prologues or any kind of introduction. The plot development in the middle of the story was sensible and easy to understand. It was clear and simple, and the events have occurred in a reasonable order. The ending of the story was a bit expected. I anticipated the death of Johnny because a broken neck usually means death. The death of Dally was not as predictable as Johnny's death because it was said that: "He was tougher than the rest of us-tougher, colder, meaner." (page 19). I did not think that such a tough person would get himself killed because of a death of a friend, although it was said a short time before the death of Dally that: "Johnny was the only thing Dally loved." (page 160). The climaxes at the end of the story were the deaths of Johnny and Dally. Here are quotations about the deaths: Johnny's death: "The pillow seemed to sink a little, and Johnny died." (page 157). Dally's death: "He was jerked half around by the impact of the bullets, then slowly crumpled with a look of grim triumph on his face. He was dead before he hit the ground." (page 162). To conclude I can say that the plot development was simple and easy to understand and to follow. The author organized it in a way that fits the actual content of the plot. Character Development The characters in the book, "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, were not very heroic-they were just humans-it was easy to believe that this is the way they should be. The characters in the plot give the reader a feeling this can be a true story. The author has created the personality of the characters through the descriptions of Ponyboy-the narrator-and through their actions. Following are some examples of these methods of getting familiar with a character. Here is an example for a description of Ponyboy: "Steve Randle was seventeen, tall and lean, with thick greasy hair he kept combed in complicated swirls. He was cocky, smart, and Soda's best buddy since grade school. Steve's specialty was cars..." (page 17). The reader can find this kind of descriptions almost everywhere in the story, but especially in the beginning. I think the author put them there because the reader does not know the characters, and he needs to get familiar with them. The descriptions make the reader know the characters better and understand their actions. A good example of an action that was taken and suggested something about a character is the way Dally was killed. He wanted the police to kill him, so he robbed a store, and the police officers shoot him.
